apple orchard
apple orchard, because it's beautiful 𓇢𓆸
hemlo. i've been away, as expected. august and september were lots of coming and going, each weekend was either packing for a trip or doing the laudnry to catch the next one.
somewhere in between, attempted to write a qwick post here but failed since my draft notes - notes only including couple of keywords as reminders - was already so long, i postponed for a longer essay. but now looking at it, i will just chuck it. or let's see where this goes. this summer was, i don't even know where to start. felt like my exposure to people was so intense, but one thing stays with me is i walked soo much (like for hours after work) this season, and that made me live the city until the last drop of summer, and it was beautiful.
what else. i would like to talk about the weeks i was away but the level of detail makes me quit the post already :grimacing: .
let's make it easier.
books i read. free play was a fun, inspirational read. my favorite summer read was woman of genius: two sisters focusing on the same man, two different personalities seeing two different personalities on this man. i was super impressed by how diligent the writing was about not making the reader pick a side, and by all the detail on the personalities. later i enjoyed asking ai for a psychoanalysis of denis, since he was a character you find in life quite often and can't understand the motivations but the analysis gave me pretty good answers. then i read the renovation by kenan orhan. the book cover got me at fine bagels. it started out too weird, but later i was amazed by how creative the writing could get and all the recaps recent history of turkish politics and events that impacted me deeply while living in istanbul. i dropped the photography book by susan sontag, and same as the bell jar, it was super slow. maybe another time.
watched the wind rises, beautiful. i watch anime now. i don't know why i insisted on not getting into it in high school when everyone was hyping it. also binged the ted lasso's last season.
ran a half marathon distance once again, this time without much training. ardic suggested going for it only 4 weeks before, which felt danjerous. shouldn't increase the volume that harsh next time. on this topic, ordered adidas adizero evo sl as runrepeat was putting it on top 3 and as it's just a 100 eur shoe, but doesn't fit me well :( busy these days to figure how to find a good running shoe once again. the better the tech the less forgiving the width is making me suffer ans this is like an hours long discussion now.
swam like 20k in total once again, 10k in crete, 10k in bodrum. it's the 3rd year in a row of doing 20k. this time i figured out which swimsuits don't cause a rash. i also learned to apply body glide on the seams of the suit, because if the seams move on your skin for an hour in salty water... :grimacing:
had a season where i was fighting with illnesses one after another, first had my eye bled all of a sudden and appearently it can happen randomly. then got food poisened from sushi and that fuckd us up like a week straight. it was the worst i ever had in life that i was afraid of getting hospitalized at some point. then got flu for a week.
small things. enjoyed having chicken salad at ari's and dulce de leche banana split ice cream in chipi chipi bon bon. and the fried calamaris in crete. and the profiterole with mastic ice cream on top in bodrum - a ritual.
i watched this turkish(!) interview with nova norda the convo is so heartwarming. she recommends a book by arno gruen and this turkish book haset ve rekabet and she makes a point of perseveraing for relationships is like, knitting. you might not love the process of knitting but if you want that jumper eventually you just need to persevera what it requeires. slightly relevant, saw a billboard of hau yesterday:
oook that's all. happy to be back at home, the routine, and having space for this post. until next one.
xoxo
